Accelerated Bridge Design

What will the future of bridge design be?  Half scale bridge sections are being seismic tested for a new technique where bridges can be built in days, not months.  The new technique, called Accelerated Bridge Design (ABC) is based on method where components are prefabbed and then shipped to the site to be assembled.  Based on the seismic testing researchers hope to develop standards based for aging infrastructure.   According to these two articles, this is the wave of the future for engineers who will be able to design and construct bridges in a matter of days rather than the current capability of months or years:
