It appears as though LeanNova Engineering, a company that formed out of the now bankrupt Saab Corporation and primarily funded by the Swedish government, is now partnering with Altair, an American based engineering software company. The duo hopes to facilitate the development of “small, lightweight and efficient” vehicles primarily in Europe, hoping to fill the gap left by Saab’s lengthy hiatus from the Swedish auto industry. Speculatively, we could see a number of larger projects to emerge from such a partnership, as western nations continue to tighten CO2 emissions standards and gas prices continue to burn through the pockets of consumers, European automakers may seek the expertise found in such a partnership in order to develop lighter, more efficient vehicles.
